Alpendorf is in the Salzburger Dolomiten, in the Dachstein-West ski region.
The 3 villages of Gosau - Russbach - Annaberg are fully linked. Hoher Dachstein (2996 m) dominates the area.
In addition there is:

Winter hiking trails.
Plus:

Electronic ski pass with Skiline - (Photo is not needed - digital photos are taken at main pay stations);
Free Wi-Fi at major lift stations.
From the chalet, it is less than a 500m walk to the Astauwinkel piste to ski down either to the 4 man chair (Astauwinkel) for a lift to Annaberg, or take the Donnerkogelbahn to access the main ski area. You can get a ski pass with photo at the lift station.
There is a beginners slope here (from the half-way station of the gondola), and kindergarten ski area with two 65 metre conveyor belts. The ski school will take children from age 3, with a maximum group size for children of 8. The school offers a youngster's race camp.
The whole area is dotted with mountain huts and restaurants (20 altogether).
A little further afield but well within driving distance you can ski:
on the Postalm;
Filzmoos; Schladming; and the wider Ski Amade area
St. Johann im Pongau;
Kleinarl;
Flachau;
Wagrain.
At the end of the day, return via the Astauwinkel lift, ski down and stop at the Salzburger Dolomitenhof Hotel, and Alpendorf Village and your chalet is on the right hand side.
